Josephine K. Lawniczak, one of the founding members of the PHCA, passed away on Friday, February 17, at the age of 87.  Josephine is the person who came up with the name Polish Hill Civic Association, and she was proud that the suggestion was accepted.  She was also the former recording secretary for the Polish Women’s Alliance Group 214, and a former election committee chairman of the 6th Ward.  In recent years she lived in Lawrenceville, but she was formerly an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish.

We salute this accomplished lady for her many contributions to her community, and her role in establishing what is now one of the oldest neighborhood groups in Pittsburgh.

Ready the full obituary from the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.
